THE HOPE OF ETERNAL SALVATION
Titus 1:2
God has determined to destroy this present world with fire and all the ungodly people. He has promised eternal life to the obedient ones – Christians.
ETERNAL: Long lasting without an end, timeless.
SALVATION: Being saved from death, sin, and power of darkness, freedom.
ETERNAL SALVATION: Long lasting absolute freedom from death, sin, and power of darkness without an end to such freedom.
HOPE: Expectation, looking ahead to have something in the future.
THE CHRISTIAN
The Christian have the hope of eternal salvation. I Peter 1:3
They are begotten unto a lively hope (hope of eternal salvation) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. This is the salvation of the Christians’ souls. I Peter 1:9.
THE WORLD – SINNERS
The sinners are also called the gentiles or the world. These people do not have the hope of ‘eternal salvation.’ Ephesians 11:12.
In this time that you are still a sinner, you do not have hope. You are a total stranger. An alien from the covenants of promise and you do not have God, the Father in this world.
The way out of your present situation is Jesus Christ. Who, has died to reconcile you back to your God. II Corinthians 5: 19 – 21.
STEPS TO RECONCILIATION
1. Hear (read) the word of God. Romans 10:17
2. Believe the word of God. John 8:24, Hebrews 11:6
3. Repent of your sins. Acts 17:30
4. Confess Christ as the Son of God. Romans 10:10
5. Be baptized into Christ. Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16
CONCLUSION
Christians are to continue steadfastly till the end of time to achieve the eternal salvation they are looking ahead to. I Corinthians 15:58
Sinners are to repent or perished with the world. Mark 16:16, II Peter 3:9 – 14.
We implore (plead with) you to be reconciled to God. II Corinthians 5:20.
